It’s been a very exciting month at EasyPeasy HQ! We’ve been celebrating our new collaboration with LEGO! We’re delighted that LEGO shares our mission and wants to support us to reach more families. So far the partnership has produced a bank of new learning games, which our families have loved, plus lots of great learning opportunities!
We’re excited that LEGO will also explore ways of supporting our future development so that families can play and learn more with EasyPeasy.
The partnership is initially being piloted with 500 families in areas of lower than average social mobility in London, Southampton, Luton, Bedford and Hastings.
The ‘MonsterPiece’ Challenge
To unite our community and amplify the wonderful home learning moments, we invited all of our families taking part in the LEGO Pilot to participate in a very special DUPLO Monster build and draw challenge! DUPLO bricks were packed up and delivered out to each of the early years settings across the UK for parents and carers. Parents and carers could then take the bricks home and not only play the LEGO learning games, but also create a very special Monster creation!
Following a few simple steps, families created their Monster with DUPLO bricks, then they were asked to draw the Monster, take a snap and share with the EasyPeasy team. Each bag of DUPLO contained special ‘eye’ bricks, which could be combined with the remaining coloured bricks to help bring their ‘MonsterPiece’ to life. This activity was a great opportunity for parents to ask their child to describe the features of their monster. Maybe their creation had blue feathers and a gold nose, and perhaps they were happy after eating a delicious lunch! Guiding children on identifying and labelling attributes like this is a wonderful way to build thinking, imagination and language skills.
The results were nothing short of amazing! We’ve now been introduced to happy, angry, tall, small and colourful new Monster friends, all of whom we were keen to get to know.
We’re proud to announce the challenge winner…
A huge well done to our flower Monster creator Muhammad Uthman! This ‘MonsterPiece’ impressed on so many levels and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share this creation with our wider community. A special prize will be winging its way over to our lucky creator soon. Congratulations!
We would like to thank everyone who took part in this special ‘MonsterPiece’ challenge! We’re so proud to work with such a creative and engaged community of amazing parents and carers.
